September 1999: Molly-Ann diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia. She begins five courses of chemotherapy to fight the illness.
After three months in remission, she goes back to hospital to have the tubes for administering drugs removed.
While she is under anaesthetic, her parents Paul and Mandy are told the leukaemia has returned.
The search for a life-saving bone marrow donor begins.
JULY 2000: The Mail launches its Gift of Life campaign to help recruit potential donors.
Thanks to our marvellous readers we reached our target of recruiting 2,000 blood and bone marrow donors in just 32 days.
SEPTEMBER 2000: Beating odds of 90,000 to one, American donor Lori White is found to match and Molly-Ann undergoes a successful transplant operation.
DECEMBER 2000: Molly-Ann is home from hospital.
APRIL 2003: Molly-Ann celebrates her ninth birthday
